Johnstown, PA (CPTN) -- The case against a Johnstown teenager, accused in the murder of a teenage girl, may be one step closer to going to trial.

17-year old Kaden Woodring, stands accused of murdering teenager Syrina Raneri, to which he pointed a rifle when Raneri cam to pick up other individuals from a social gathering at a home along Sheridan Street in the city's West End Neighborhood.

He allegedly told the victim " you know I'm playing," before he pulled the trigger, shooting and killing Raneri.

Woodring has since made the claim that the shooting was an accident, to which claim wasn't supported, as detectives say that the gun was stolen by a friend, to which was handed to Woodring.

Detectives also say that the 17-year-old's mother , was on the phone with Woodring himself outside that West End home, after he had fled from the scene of the shooting.

The gun, detectives add, has never been recovered. As for Woodring, he faces criminal homicide, aggravated assault, along with numerous other charges.

The charges, have been handed down to the Court of Common Pleas, as defense attorneys ask for Woodring to be tried in juvenile court, as he's not 18-years-old.
